Do You Really Want To Lose Weight? - This Way Works

By: Carolyn Hansen

The new way to lose excess body fat is quite different than the old fashioned weight-loss methods of the past. Back then we reduced food calories to the point we could hardly function then threw in some walking or other endurance type of activity and that would hopefully do the trick.

But we now know that this is not the best way to change from being an overweight person into a slim, lean healthier person which is really what most of us want to be. The new ways focus more on achieving an increased metabolism (the body's engine) which means hormones must be in balance so the body is coaxed into giving up its fat stores more readily.

To get these fat burning hormones in the best balance means eating quality food with the right balance of macro-nutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fats). You are almost eating more food than you think you need as you will be eating every 2-3 hours throughout the day. These meals should contain around 300-400 calories and be made up of mainly 'clean' unprocessed foods that are natural and whole.

Whole means a tomato or an orange or some chicken still resembles the whole food when it is eaten unlike processed foods that are all mixed up together usually with multiple chemicals. It is these unhealthy chemicals that throw our sensitive hunger/fullness signals 'out of whack'. So the first step with a fat loss diet is to clean it up as much as possible.

Once the food eaten is right, the next step is to add a strength training program to tone up the body's fat burning machinery – the muscle tissue - so the metabolic rate is raised. If you have not been doing this it is possible that you have become overweight. If you have allowed your muscles to become flabby and weak they will not be burning as much fuel (calories) as they should be so more are stored as fat.

'Cardio' type activities will not give you strong toned muscles only strength training exercise can do this, so either keep these activities to a minimum or ditch them altogether and put your strength and energy into your proper program as it will give you the 'most bang for your buck'.

The combination of these two things gives you the easiest and most effective fat loss strategy that you can have. As much as three times the results can be had in half the time. Importantly you will feel really good with loads of energy unlike dieting which sucks the life force from you making you feel miserable. Dieting does not build health and a strong fat burning metabolism. In fact they work against your body and not with it so fat loss grinds to a halt.

The hardest part of this method is changing your mindset to accept this is what you need to do to get back into shape. If you can get past this you will achieve your weight-loss and fitness goals faster than you ever thought possible.
